FIGHTING THE LETHE - Hellenic Air Force Out of Service Aircraft (2010-2011)

FIGHTING THE LETHE, HAF out of service aircraft 2010-2011 is the crowing of 22 years of research, combined with 18 months of photos gathering by the author, Themistoklis A. Vranas, a widely recognized expert in the field of researching and documenting the history of out of service aircraft of HAF. The book proves the existence of 667 HAF veterans that either served within HAF or were used, right from the start, as source of parts for other aircraft of the same type.

FIGHTING THE LETHE, HAF out of service aircraft 2010-2011 is the first ever study of its kind covering Hellenic Air Force aircraft. At the same time, it claims to be probably the most completed presentation of the out of service aircraft of any air force around the world, being the first book to combine high quality (and full colour) photographic recording of each such airframe with a detailed report of each aircraft path after its retirement from active duty, achieving thus a feat without any international precedent for books of this specialized category!

Review (Scale Aviation Modeller International - SAMI):

"A fascinating book, and a remarkable piece of documentation in which the author has traced all out of service and stored airframes, catalogued them, and illustrated every one with a high quality colour photograph. These range from overgrown hulks, dumped in waste ground, to well-reserved airworthy machines in short term category Z storage - regularly maintanied and kept operational, but grounded. As a consequence of the author's thoroughness there are some 650 aircraft covered, and the end result is a stunning document of HAF aircraft and their colour schemes, and is an absolute joy to browse."
