''Half a century has elapsed since the first Olympic Airways flight. For fifty years the company's aircraft have been flying in the Hellenic and international skies. This photo album presents the aircraft by which almost all Greeks have flown, the aircraft we saw in every part of Greece as well as, all over the world, the aircraft we recognize in almost every B&W Greek movie.
Photos of all these aircraft have been gathered for the first time into this collective photo album, from the legendary "Dakota" to the also legendary "Jumbo", from the classic "Skyvan", used extensively on the Greek isles routes, to today's "Dash-8", from the first jet aircraft in aviation history, the "Comet-4", to the modern four-engine "Airbus 340". More than 200 aircraft flew or are flying in Olympic Airways' livery from April 6, 1957 to April 6, 2007.
This photo album presents for the first time all Olympic Airways' aircraft. Olympic Airways' fifty years anniversary was the opportunity we were waiting for.
The creation of this photo album was based on the idea of showing photos of all Olympic Airways' aircraft (per registration), either owned or leased, in the company's livery (the well known "Olympic circles") or with the company's titles''.
